Another New Article On EE

Read this article today. It's a great one to spread awareness. I find it interesting that the doctor who was interviewed came from the NIH since there are no funds going to Eosinophilic diseases from the NIH but hopefully that's a good sign. This article comes from the Allergy Mom's site which is one of my favorite.

The good with the bad

The good news is, Kaylin is doing great and we're really getting a handle on what causes her to react. The bad news is, we think that list now includes eggs along with the soy and dairy. She is not able to have dairy at all but straight soy milk or eggs seems to cause a reaction as well. We've been suspicious of the eggs for a long time but it's not something she eats all the time. The last time she had eggs for breakfast, she was complaining she was spitting up within an hour. We decided we'd watch it but not tell her. Tonight we had hard boiled eggs and again, within an hour she let me know she was spitting up again. I think we'll lay off the straight eggs for now and see how she does. It's not a constant problem like the dairy was so we'll just leave it at that as long as her symptoms don't return.

Christmas

The holidays are always difficult trying to figure out what is safe to feed our girls. With Kaylin's milk allergy and Keira's nut allergy, eating at other people's houses and keeping the kids out of holiday treats that are ever present can be so overwhelming.

On our way places we've been stopping by McDonalds more than should ever be allowed, lol. It's not the healthiest but a Hamburger Happy Meal minus the fries is milk free for Kaylin.

I also discovered that Baker's Chocolate is dairy free and made Kaylin her own "truffles" for Christmas.

Kaylin did sneak some white chocolate in the middle of our holiday baking. She was spitting up again and complaining her stomach hurt. I didn't realize what had happened until I found the evidence and she fessed up. It was very clear to her what the cause and effect was and she agreed it wasn't worth it.
